Debit/Credit Card Protection
Credit Card companies have finally taken action against the theft of the free pre-approved credit cards that they send in the mail. Lately, they have started requiring activation codes from the customer that must be called from the home phone of the person that the card has been sent to.
Problems have arisen when companies send out the pre-approved cards and theives steel them before the customer gets them. The theives then use the cards to purchase different items, and usually runn up the credit card bill without making any payments in another person's name. This innocent person is often not even aware of this until he/she goes to take out a loan, or possibly when the collectors contact them about overdue payments. But by this time, it is usually too late.
Even after all of the false charges have been taken care of and proven that they were made illegally, your credit score may still be damaged and you may be responsible. If this has happened to you in the past, you may want to have these negative marks removed.
